Alternative Treatments for Bacne

Bacne or “back acne” is a dominant problem with people who suffer from facial acne. Bacne erupts for precisely the same reason as facial acne – the skin pores get clogged with sebum or sticky oil and when the condition aggravates, sebum oozes out. Managing facial acne is relatively easy but not bacne because the area is usually kept covered. The treatments one uses for facial acne is not applicable to bacne. Therefore, what can one do? Take note of the following alternative treatment for bacne. The treatments are less medicinal and more precautionary in nature.

Bathing Hygiene

No matter how clichéd this sounds but keeping your body clean is the basic treatment for bacne. Maintaining hygiene is important because without cleanliness, the body will become vulnerable to oily skin and clog the skin pores. Hygiene removes all toxins from the body. You should always use mild soap, chemical – free soap to wash your back. Do not use sharp bristled brushes for scrubbing as it will irritate the skin. Best is to use mild skin cleaners to clean back skin. If possible, take baths than showers in warm water because it helps release dead skin.

Clothing Care

People with bacne should never wear tight clothing because it irritates the skin and aggravates bacne. Give preference to cotton clothes than synthetic cloths because they absorb sweat and don’t allow moisture to accumulate on the skin. Wearing synthetic clothes won’t allow moisture to escape the skin and thus increase bacne since the bacteria thrives on skin pores. You should also avoid rough or scratchy cloths. If you have long hair, wear a hair band so as not to allow hair to freely fall on your back. Dirt and oil accumulated in hair strands reacts with the skin and creates bacne.

Ayurvedic Care for Bacne

According to Ayurveda, people who are basically of Vata and Kapha constituency are more prone toward facial acne and bacne. To cure them, one has to follow proper diet and lifestyle. You should not have too much of oily, spicy and dry foods because it might lead to indigestion and then vitiate Vata level. Drink lots of water and avoid consumption of soft drinks and fast foods. Make it a habit to empty bowel regularly as it helps to normalize the Vata level.

Moreover, if you expose your skin to extreme climatic conditions, it aggravates the condition. Try to always have fresh fruit juices and vegetable salads to keep your skin healthy and resistant to skin blemishes. Food items like fish, curd, Bengal gram, sesame, jaggery and overtly salty or sour foods should be avoided. Another helpful activity is to exercise regularly since it helps to get rid of harmful toxins in the form of sweat. However, never exert yourself after heavy meals.

Balanced lifestyle and dietary changes are the prime ways in which one can get rid of bacne. Keeping your skin healthy and clear reduces chances of getting bacne repeatedly. Conventional medications do help but for short-term only. Following the alternative treatments above will help you to keep bacne eruption in check.
